Bambi Cantrell has been photographing weddings for over 25 years. Her cutting edge style has attracted many and her images have been published in numerous magazines. Bambi Cantrell is also an accomplished author. Her best selling books, "The Art of Wedding Photography" published in November 2000, "The Art of the Digital Wedding" published in March 2006, and "The Art of People Photography : Inspiring Techniques for Creative Results" published in May 2007 have become the top rated guides for creative imagery and a must have for anyone getting married.

Upon my return from the WPPI convention I got to thinking about the state of wedding photography. I sat in on much of the competition and was struck by how few photographs there were of family groups. Especially evident in album competition, I wonder, where are all of the people? There are photos a plenty of the bride and groom running down the street, jumping in the air, and sitting in every café known to man... Not to mention at least fifty photos of headless members, body parts and inanimate objects. It seems as though we've become afraid of photographing people looking in the camera.

Are You an Owner or Just a Renter

Written by Bambi Cantrell
"When I say the words "owner or renter" the first thing that probably comes to your mind is housing. But have you ever given thought to whether you are an owner or renter in life?  You see many of us go through life making decisions as though we were renting.  In what way?  Think about it and ask yourself, do I think carefully about my decisions?  Do I count the cost?  Do I make goals and stick to them even though it might cause me pain?  Now think of the renters mentality.

September... A Time For Reflection

Written by Bambi Cantrell
Here it is September already.  Where does the time go?  September is always the month I reflect on  where I am currently at and where I want to go with my business.  I feel it is very important to make mini  goals for oneself. What are my goals?  To streamline my business, get back to taking more photographs,  to remind my favorite vendors of who I am and why they should recommend me, and importantly, where is my hard earned money going?

Light Is Light

Written by Bambi Cantrell
A number of years ago I was wandering through the isles of my local Barns and Nobles book store, in search for new photographic ideas.  I think I looked at every fine art book, every fine art photography book, and even the fashion books trying to see the world differently than I was at the time. One book that caught my eye was a book by the famous movie star photographer of the 30's George Hurrell.

Community Networking

Written by Bambi Cantrell
I did a very interesting photo session last week I must share.  I believe it is very important to network with other professionals in our  community and in keeping with this philosophy, I've been networking with a local hair salon on their displays, website etc.  We have  developed a terrific relationship and each hair designer (and there are 12 of them) recommends my studio.
