Jim Garner (3)

Jim Garner, international award winning photographer, began his  career as a commercial photographer in the late 90’s, and soon decided to pursue wedding photography as well.  A few years later, Garner succeeded in establishing one of the top commercial & wedding studios in the Pacific Northwest.

In addition to photography, in the spring of 2007 Jim Garner launched BODA, a professional photography lens bag (goboda.com).  BODA is a company dedicated to bringing products to the active photographer enabling them to better do their job.

As a studio their primary goal is to create beautiful work for their clients, and have a ton of fun doing it.  Garner is also dedicated to sharing is knowledge with up and coming photographers and reaps great reward from helping others in the photography community.

With WPPI now behind us, I want to share the key to our success.  We submitted 5 wedding albums and took 1st place, a 3rd place.  The remaining 3 albums placed in the top ten.  This placement confirmed to us that what we had learned the previous year was really something special.

Extraordinary

Written by Jim Garner
In this article I wanted to share the most important creative piece that has changed my personal photography style and consequently, one of the keys to my recent successful reinvention.  A few years ago, I became very impressed by the Australian approach to wedding photography.  They seemed to have an edge on how to photograph a bride and groom.

Make Something from Nothing Part 2

Written by Jim Garner
I would like to start this article in the same manner as the last. What I am about to show you does not replace good photography techniques utilized at the time of capture. As a community we need to recognize that since the shift from film to digital capture, many of us have become a bit lazy with our exposures, compositions, and techniques in general. Many of us are relying upon post processing to fix these issues. I am here to tell you that the most beautiful images start with great exposure or multiple exposures inspired by a concept.
