Sean McCormack (10)

Sean McCormack is a semi professional photographer from Galway, Ireland. After spending a long time jumping between different programs to try and simulate some kind of a workflow, he jumped straight for the Public Beta of Lightroom when it was announced. His active involvement led to being chosen to beta test the prerelease of version 1 of Lightroom. Since then hes been actively involved, culminating in being named an Adobe Community Expert by Adobe. He is the author of Photoshop Lightroom 2 Made Easy (Amazon US, Amazon UK) and has created numerous plugins and galleries for Lightroom, including LRB Portfolio, a website creation plugin.

Lightroom's Slideshow Module is a basic, but functional slideshow creator. In this video I show how to use the module. You'll see that it's easy to add image specific data, and create custom layouts. It's not the only option though, and so in this video I've also covered created making a slideshow in Animoto, via the Lightroom plugin. Finally I talk about creating Timelapse movies in the Slideshow Module via free templates and presets.

The Anatomy of Adobe Lightroom Previews

Written by Sean McCormack
Because Lightroom is a database, rather than a browser, photos must be ingested via the Import Dialog. Part of this process includes creating previews that allow Lightroom to display a file quickly, rather than going back to the original file every time to render it. Looking at the anatomy of the average Lightroom Catalog Folder (Catalog is the name of the Lightroom database file), We can see there are a number of files visible.

Lightroom 3 Lens Corrections

Written by Sean McCormack
Since the last post here, Lightroom 3 has moved from Beta to final release. With each Beta, we’ve covered the new features, so there’s no point in rehashing them. We will, however, take a look a the biggest new feature since the last Beta: Lens Corrections.

The Lightroom Catalog

Written by Sean McCormack
Lightroom centers around an image database. Way back the database files used to be called ‘Libraries’ but, as often happens with new programs, they’ve changed and are now refered to as Catalogs. While operating inside Lightroom, the catalog is essentially invisible, because it seems to be everything you’re dealing with. That’s not quite true, so let’s look at the catalog from the ouside.

Lightroom 3 Beta 2 Overview

Written by Sean McCormack
By Sean McCormack Hey folks, it seems remiss of me to be talking about a new Beta for Lightroom 3 so soon after one for the first Beta, but Adobe have surprised us with a new version to try and test, so I can hardly ignore it. This beta is a much more polished and ready version of the program, but despite this, the release notes (a must read, by the way) tell us it does not include all of the features that will be available in the final release.

Lightroom Metadata Handling

Hi folks, welcome to another article on Lightroom from ProPhoto Resource. During the month there’s been some talk about Lightroom and XMP, so I thought a short article might be in order.

Camera Profiles

Written by Sean McCormack
The most forlorn and forgotten panel in the Develop Module has to be Camera Calibration. It’s almost an intimidating part of the program, and left alone for the most part. Still it contains probably the singlemost powerful tool in the Lightroom development pipeline: the profile.

Lightroom 3 Beta

Written by Sean McCormack
By Sean McCormick I’m Sean McCormack, and I hail from the rather wet city of Galway in the west of Ireland. Over the last week we’ve seen the heaviest rain in a long time, so I’m practically living on the island of Galway at the moment. Anyway, who am I? Well I'm a semi pro photographer, actively seeking more work, as well as a sound engineer.
