The threat of theft is a serious concern for any photographer, especially for those of us who've invested a good amount of money into our camera systems. Though a lot can be accomplished using some common sense, it's not always possible to keep an eye on your equipment, especially when you are in the midst of a shoot.

Chrome Niko Camera Bag Review

My equipment closet is where camera bags go to die. Empty except for a stray body cap or an expired roll of film (yes, some of the bags are that old!), they consist of all types of bags: shoulder bags, backpacks, slingbags and more. At some point, they held the promise of being the definitive bag, the last bag that I would ever need. That of course is a fool's errand, because realistically the best bag is like the best lens. It's only the best when it's the right choice for the job.

Review - Chris Grey Studio Lighting

Reviewed by Steve Dantzig My good friend Chris Grey has done it again. His Studio Lighting Techniques For Photography: Tricks of the Trade for Professional Digital Photographers is nothing short of spectacular. My favorite quote from the book found on page 5 sets the tone for the book: “Failure is a wonderful reference.” Don’t be afraid to play and learn.
Reviewed by Steve Dantzig I am a photographer. I love light and manipulating it to create beautiful images. I’ve been fairly successful--as a photographer--not necessarily as a businessman. I’m “self-taught” (with a lot of mentors along the way) and like many of you, bought the books and went to seminars about lighting.

Lightroom 3 Beta

By Sean McCormick I’m Sean McCormack, and I hail from the rather wet city of Galway in the west of Ireland. Over the last week we’ve seen the heaviest rain in a long time, so I’m practically living on the island of Galway at the moment. Anyway, who am I? Well I'm a semi pro photographer, actively seeking more work, as well as a sound engineer.
If you’ve read my stuff here this year you probably know that I’ve had the opportunity to test a couple other medium format digital camera systems.  And every one of them had a unique selling proposition.  But the one thing they all seemed to have in common was price tag on par with the sticker price of a nice BMW automobile.  If you’ve read my reasons for wanting a MFDC you know why I want one.  If this is your first visit then let me bring you up to speed.

2007 WPPI RoundUp

Las Vegas, NV - March 2007 - WPPI Tradeshow Back from a whirlwind tour of Vegas for the WPPI trade show and the Digital Wedding Forum conventions (running concurrently to WPPI, across the street at The Westin). Both were big and buzzing (and some places smokey--ugh! but that's Vegas).
